Dreamfall Chapters is the continuation of the Dreamfall universe and was kickstarted last year and raised over 1.5 million dollars. Preorder link: The game will be released as 5 parts or 5 books with the first available on Oct 21, 2014. You can already preorder this game for $29.79 at www.gog.com/game/dreamfall_chapters_season_pass_special_edition and includes all 5 chapters of the game and extra bonus features. I backed the kickstarter, so I'm already in for all 5 books and I'm very much looking forward to getting stuck into book one in a couple weeks.

Wow! Great minds think alike! Did you play any of the other Dreamfall games? This should be great as we can discuss the game when released.

Yeah, I've played both The Longest Journey and Dreamfall. The series as a whole is a bit of an odd one for me, as I generally don't play adventure games, as they tend to have mindbendlingly obscure puzzles (I'm looking at you, TLJ. That key puzzle was ridiculous) or require pixel hunting, which I don't find enjoyable. At all. I had heard about The Longest Journey from a few people who really liked it, so I gave it a try and after a few early rough spots (KEY PUZZLE!) I ended up really enjoying it, which meant tracking down Dreamfall to see how it continued. I loved the sense of continuity that Dreamfall had and although the combat sections were pretty bad, it was a pretty good game with a crushing ending.
I'm quite interested to see how they manage to resolve the ending of Dreamfall. Lots of crap went down in the last few hours of the game, some of it has been alluded to in the kickstarter stuff, some of it hasn't...

Actually I mostly played, loved and completed the first game, The Longest Journey and only played a little of the second one, Dreamfall. Something about the gameplay style or direction of the game caused me to not want to keep playing the game like I had enjoyed the first one. Hopefully this newest addition to the series will bring back what I enjoyed from the first one. I hope they do solve whatever storyline elements they had left unsolved after the last game so that players can understand what is to come. I hope it will also be easy for me to understand the storyline since I basically did not play most of the second game.

Wow. I've clocked up just short of 2 hours now, and I'm already loving it. There's been one kinda bullshit room so far, but apart from that, its been great. I've no idea how far into book one I am, but I'm already looking forward to the rest of the books. As for understanding things, there will be a few things that you miss out on, but most of it should be explained, hopefully. Maybe.

I heard its only 3 hours long and people are having problems running the game on high settings. Have you completed the first book yet? I have not purchased it yet as I am waiting for some reviews first.

Will do. I'll be putting some more time into it tonight, after work. As far as length goes, I've heard it lasts between 5 and 10 hours. 3 hours sounds like they were racing through the game. Which is a shame, as there are a lot of little touches; Snippets of conversation, observations from the player character and conversations between the player character and the various NPCs that inhabit the worlds which really flesh out the worlds of Stark and Aracadia and let the players know that a lot has changed between Dreamfall and Chapters.
As far as performance goes, I haven't noticed anything major, although I have quite a beefy rig. Mind you, I haven't played around with the graphic settings either, so that might have something to do with it.

Ok, I completed book one in about four and a half hours. I really don't want to spoil anything, but this story is going places. So many questions, so few answers, SO GOOD! (Might be a little excited >_>) Just a quick update on the performance thing: Its there, but its not a major deal breaker for me, personally. Red Thread are apparently looking into it, though so it might have a chance of being fixed by the time you get to it.

4 1/2 hours is more like it! Good to hear that you enjoyed it very much! So what do you think about the graphics? Did they impress you?

From what I've seen so far, yeah. Haven't seen too much of Arcadia yet, but the city of Propast is pretty interesting. I've found a couple spoiler free screenshots from someone on my friends list: Propast Streetscape: Zoe in The Storytime:

Quick update: Dreamfall Chapters Book 2: Rebels is now live on Steam. The developers have stated that Book 2 will be substantially longer than the first book. Can't wait to get home tonight... and watch a progress bar because I didn't have the presence of mind to turn my computer on this morning before work .

Well, I've finished the first chapter of Book 2, which took about 2 and a half hours. I'm not going to say much, apart from apparently I'm terrible at stealth sections (With proof: Link) Its a bit early to say any more, but things are certainly still building up.

I am glad that you are enjoying the game. I am curious as to the general gameplay time of the books. For example how long was book 1 and how long do you think book 2 will be? I hope that book 1 provided lots of gameplay time hopefully in the 5+ range. I am actually waiting until they have a super sale on this game so that I can purchase it.
