I played for several hours and I really enjoyed it. It is obvious that things are still missing and there are many bugs but its to be expected since the game is in early Alpha. Yet the pieces I see definitely point to a game that hints of greatness when all the systems are in place and more gets added as the game continues further in development. I definitely want to continue seeing the progress this game goes through as what they have mentioned that will be included in the future is not in yet. For example they plan to add RPG elements where characters level up as well as the town gaining experience but that is for future updates.
As I played for several hours I discovered so many other things and this being an early Alpha. This is definitely a great area to discuss as it is the core of what the citizens can do that will help you build your city. Currently there are the following professions:
1-Carpenter-Can make hoes to create a farmer, can make swords to make footman, can make a weavers spindle to creat a weaver. The carpenter can also build chairs, beds and other items you will need in a house.
2-Footman-Helps defend your town from attack. They go on patrol and when they sense danger they try and stop it. I was excited when my town was attacked by Goblins and my footman took care of them. Imagine what the game will be when they have huge beasts and more terrifying creatures to deal with. I am looking forward to it.
3-Farmer-Helps to plant crops such as pumpkins to create food that your people need.
4-Weaver-Can create things like armor that will increase speed for workers and defense for your footman
These are not the only professions but ones that are currently in. Since this was Alpha there are many things that are still are still being worked on. For example I don't like the way you create houses now. It seems limited and you can only design a house a certain away and I needed more options here, such as the tiles used and how you could configure the layout of the building. You also don't know how much resource certain things need to be buit. So basically in Alpha 5 you can try out the 4 professions listed above, build some houses, farm, create armor, furniture and engage in battle with some goblins. There are still many many systems missing but you can already see where this game is headed and I will be waiting for the next update to see what is added. My goal for Alpha 5 was to see some of the systems they had in place, professions and trying out the basics and it definitely impressed me even being as limited as it is. A future update promises mining, more fine tuning and addition of other features. I can just imagine when so much more is added, more variety of landscapes, battles, more building options, more professions, all types of diverse creatures to battle, RPG elements and so much more.
Graphics are definitely looking good, very detailed and suits the game very well. Definitely the kind of graphics I enjoy and that make this game even better. I hope you have enjoyed these two Alpha 5 reports as I may not do another one until Alpha 6 is released or I find other features in Alpha 5. Should you try this out? I would say definitely yes, with the understanding that much of the core game is still missing and only a few systems are currently in place. Alpha, a very early stage of a games development is where the game essentially is being put together, piece by piece until its ready for the beta stage, where the game basically is checked for bugs, game play experience is improved and the game is given major testing so that it can then be ready for release. I hope you check the website, watch the videos and give this game a chance, it is worth it!
