-Released October 2014
-Has 1 new Halloween story called Mummy Mayhem
-First Jumbo Comics with a new 12 page lead story named Mummy Mayhem, a top story of this Digest!
-First new story in the Digests that is a 12 page story as previous new stories in other Digests were 6 pagers.
-First of the new stories that has appeared in the Digests recently that gets the best story honors.
-Includes Man from Riverdale and Wilbur classic stories and Archie vault which includes classic Archie comics from the 50's
-Beautiful and funny cover by Jeff Shultz that shows the nature side of Betty but all Veronica can think about here is Archie and his fall colors and not on the leaves like Betty is. Archie Comics reflects the seasons and this cover definitely reflects the current fall season in great style!
Archie Award of Excellence Story: Archie in Mummy Mayhem
Art by Fernando Ruiz and Written by Bill Golliher
-One of the highlights of this 288 page Jumbo Comics is this new 12 page lead story with great writing by Bill Golliher and amazing art by Fernando Ruiz which makes this the top story of this Digest.
-Other new stories in Digests before this one were only 6 pages in length but this is the first 12 pager and so far is the best of the new stories that is coming out in the Digests right now.
-This story deals with Archie and Jughead who are counselors of a group of Adventure Scouts and the very mysterious and haunting experience that they go through when they sleep overnight at the local museum.
-Little do they know that there is a priceless gem that others are tempted to steal on the very night that Archie, Jughead and the rest of the adventure scouts have there sleepover at the museum.
-What happens at the museum that very night and the adventure that Archie, Jughead and the scouts go through is worth reading in this Jumbo Comics!
-The writer defintely was inspired by the classic cartoon Scooby Doo Adventures that are part of my own childhood and this mystery story is crafted so well that you will enjoy it once you read it yourself. It is full of mystery, great adventure and many laughs!
-Definitely worth buying this Digest for not only this story but many other great stories contained in this Digest!
Archie Honorable Mention Story: Where there's Smoke
Art by Stan Goldberg, Written by Frank Doyle
-This is part of the classic two part adventures that was probably released in the late 60's to 70's and features amazing artwork by Stan Golberg and great writing by Frank Doyle.
-This mystery story told in two parts tells of a famous bank robber named Bang Bang Cooperstock or B.B.C who is very intelligent and clever, committed many bank robberies and has never been caught.
-More interesting than anything else is how Archie and Veronica are framed as bank robbers for B.B.C's robberies.
-Full of mystery, suspense and adventure! Find out if the infamous bank robber is caught, whether Archie and Veronica's names are cleared by reading this well written and well drawn mystery adventure.
Archie Honorable Mention Story: Beware the Pretty Pirate
Art by Stan Goldberg, Written by Frank Doyle
-Another great two part mystery story by the great team of artist Stan Goldberg and writter Frank Doyle
-What a great mystery story this one is and involves two great faculty members who are seriously thinking of leaving Riverdale High: Mr Weatherbee and Mrs Grundy.
-This story deals with a character named Long Jane Silver, Dean of a prestigious, snobby and wealthy school, who wants Veronica to attend her school along with getting Weatherbee and Grundy to leave Riverdale High and teach at the school.
-Read this story to find out about happens to our favorite faculty members and of Veronica!
Archie Honorable Mention Story: Archie in Meet Holly Graham
Art by Fernando Ruiz and Written by Bill Golliher
-Very funny and humorous six page story about a realistic hologram that Dilton creates.
-Great and amazing artwork by the stellar Fernando Ruiz, one of my top artists and a great story by the fantastic Bill Golliher
-This is also from the same team that produced this Digests top story Mummy Mayhem!
-The funny and zany part is when Archie gets involved is where the laughs begin in his interaction with others.
-For many laughs read this one to find out the trouble Archie gets in and why.
Archie Honorable Mention Story: Archie as the Man from Riverdale in The Flamethrower Returns
Art by Bob White and Written by Frank Doyle
-One of the best things about the Digests is the classic Archie stories that many of us did not get to read because they were produced long ago. The Man from Riverdale stories were probably written in the late 60's to 70's and placed the Archie characters as super secret Agents that are part of the P.O.P organization or Protect our Planet and go against the evil CRUSH organization. This series is one of my favorite because you get to see the popular Archie gang battle super villians, use neat gadgets and thwart the evil of CRUSH in well written and well drawn adventures.
-In this adventure you see the gang go up against the super villain Flamethrower and his plan to use genetically engineered Fireflies to rid the world of P.O.P forever.
-How will secret Agent Archie as the Man from Riverdale deal with these mysterious fireflies, will this be the end of P.O.P and will the Flamethrower succeed in his plans? Find out in this great 12 page mystery story.
Archie Honorable Mention Story: Archie as the Man from Riverdale in Fairy Tale Terror
Art by Bob White and Written by Frank Doyle
-There is also another awesome 12 page story from the Man from Riverdale called Fairy Tale Terror that comes after the Flamethrower returns story and involves a super villian named Fairy Tale Terror who uses fairy tales against the Archie gang. Very funny and well told story! It had me laughing on several occasions at the mishaps that the Archie super agents have to go through on this funny adventure. Just wait unti you read it yourself!
-It seems like this is another stellar group of Frank Doyle as writer and artist Bob White just as Frank Doyle did well when paired with Stan Goldberg! Such amazing writers and artists that created the classic Archie tales!
This is the first Archie Digest from the recent ones that I have rated that is being given the rare 5 out of 5 stars rating for:
-Having a great 12 page new lead story that is very well written and amazing art by Fernando Ruiz in the spirit of the classic Scooby Doo Adventures.
-Features great two part mystery stories by the team of artist Stan Goldberg and writer Frank Doyle, possibly released in the late 60's and into the 70's.
-A great collection of stories from the 50's in the Archie Vault. One of these classic stories deals with Weatherbee demanding that at school Archie and Jughead can no longer be friends or another where Jughead creates a robot.
-Other great stories in this collection include one in which Archie is trying out the new geek look but will Betty and Veronica be impressed? Another great story drawn by the great artist Harry Lucey deals with Archie and taking care of a puppy at school and of the zany humor when he tries to hide it from everyone.
-Definitely if you are selective about your Digests, this is one of the ones to get, for the increased page count of 288 pages, the Man from Riverdale stories written and drawn in the late 60's, the new 12 page and amazing lead story, the two part mysteries and many more great stories that you will enjoy and love.
Overall Rating-Masterpiece: 5 out of 5 stars!
