Archie Award of Excellence Story: Veronica in Makeover Madness
(Art and Pencils by Dan Parent)
This is another fun story drawn and written by the amazing Dan Parent which gets the top award for this Comics Digest. In this story Veronica must think of a Business career for one of her classes and one that she chooses is that of a Fashion Editor. Wait until you see the fun that happens when she chooses Weatherbee, Mrs. Grundy, Archie and the rest of the gang to do fashion makeovers on. The makeovers do not turn out as one would have hoped but they end up being used in a magazine feature story. The funny part is what kind of story would Veronica's horrible makeovers be featured in, find out in this story.
Archie Honorable Mention Story: Costume Drama
(Art by Jeff Shultz, Written by: Angelo Decesare)
A new lead story in this Comics Digest that gets my Honorable mention for this comics Digest. Not only has this story never appeared before but its a good one. Definitely one of the things that I love about Archie Comics happened here which is tons of laughter. I laughed and laughed alot which is a characteristic of Archie Comics. This story has Betty and Veronica entering their pets into a Howl-oween Pet contest to see who will win best in show. Its very funny how each of the girls see their pets, Veronica sees Betty's cat Caramel as a wicked witch and Betty sees Veronica's pet dog Fifi as a Vampire. I like the stories that deal with the characters pets and this one turned out very well. Just wait until you see the lengths the girls go to see that thier pet wins. Who will win? Read this Comics Digest to find out. Definitely a new lead story that is worth reading!
Archie Honorable Mention Story: Sabrina in Mummy Dearest
(Written and Drawn by Bill Golliher)
I absolutely love the Sabrina stories and this one will warm your heart. In this story Sabrina loves the new Werewolf that has joined Gravestone Heights, the school Sabrina attends and wants to get his attention. The problem is everytime Sabrina gets near he seems to ignore her and leave. At the end of the story the mystery will be revealed and Sabrina may or may not be happy with what she finds. Great story with a good heart!
Archie Honorable Mention Story: Betty in Car tunes
(Art by Doug Crane and Written by Joe Edwards)
I love the Betty character very much, more than Veronica, and this one highlights that reason very much. Betty is great at so many different types of things: cooking, sports and even fixing cars. Yes, something some people might not think a girl could do, but our wonderful Betty can. In this story Mrs. Grundy has a problem with her car that she has taken to a professional mechanic to fix but they never actually fix the problem until Betty comes to the rescue. Not everyone can believe that Betty can fix vehicles so easily since she is a girl and wait and see what happens when one of these individuals is Mr. Weatherbee. A great story about how talented our Betty Cooper is and what happens when people do not believe in how capable a person can be.
This Comics Digest is one of the latest ones out and is worth reading for not only these great stories but for many more interesting and funny ones!
Overall Digest rating-Good: 3 out of 5 Stars
